Reflecting on the Year
4. Early in the year in this class, we learned the importance of the angles/types of shot and what they make the viewer think or feel. You can see that in my first film, I didn't show a reaction shot when we wanted to, espescially in the scene when Cesar tells Isaiah,"enough to go to college". On my second project, I learned how to make the viewer think or feel a certain way by the way the scene is set up. I also elaned how to add music and other sound effects to the film to show a certain mood or tone. A scene that shows this well is in the film called "Honesty Dude", when Taylor and Jose are walking away from the beach after breaking their cousins new surf board. Later in the year, I showed that I really had learned how to work in special effects into the films and videos. One good example is from "Jabberwocky" in the scene when it says And shun the frumios bandersnatch".
5. In this class, throughtout the entire year, I have learned a numerous amount of things that I probably never would have learned if I had never taken this class. Yes, we learned about the shots, the angles, the music, and the effects, but there is more than just that. The main thing that I learned throughout the school year is the work. I learned about the amount of planning arranging and hard work that goes into film making, and there is much more than I expected there to be.
6. This class has been a lot of work that I really didn't understand why we were doing it, but in the end most of it makes sense. I have had a lot of fun in all of my experiences in this class. Just one question though, why didn't you ever bring second block and donuts?

Adventurer's Decision Baxter Robledo
In this video we used a combimation of pictures and video clips from the school band playing "The Water is Water". The story that we were going for was a person leaving home about to embark on an adventure. While the character is on his journey, he finds himself having to overcome some obstacles. Finally, after he he overcomes them, he continues on his journey feeling more strong and confident than ever.1:50-1:55

Jabberwocky
The special effect that we used the best was the directional blur. This really worked becasue it doesnt give a clear preception of what the picture actually is. The mood we were trying to communicate was intimidation or fear. The stanza that we got had alot of beware's and seemed that it was trying to intimidate the hero and most of all the audience. The idea that we were trying to show was that all the imaginary animals were to be feared and shouldnt be thought if as nice or cute.

Special Effects1
For the effect below, you choose "threshold" in the "stylize" folder. Adjust the level in control effects to 42 half way through the video, then set it to 181 at the end. This will make the level change throughout the video. You could use this to set a certain tone or mood in a film.

Effects 1
For the effect below you choose "Offset" in the "Distort" folder. I adjusted the center shift to 345 and 277. I changed the Blend mode to "Dissolve" and the position to 372 and 247 on a scale of 104. You might use this as someone's point of view while being dizzy. You could also use this as an old film because the frame is going down.

Thinking About Our Final Values Video
POSETIVE COMMENTS
1. We especially like the shot when the camera turned towards the sky because it was a good transition from leaving the beach.- John and Joselyn
2. Overall, we thought your film was very comedic- John and Joselyn
3. We especially like the transitions –Blanca
4. We especially like the shot of Jose surfing because it showed the beginning of various funny scenes- Anonymous
5. Your group has talent.- Always, Sabrena, Ashley P, Eddie E
6. We rate your video a 9.- Always, Sabrena, Ashley P, Eddie E
SUGGESTION
1. Our strongest suggestion is that shorten the intro. Jacob D and Morgan D
2. Use of dramatic music and happy music would help the rising action, the climax, and the resolution. -John and Joselyn
3. Change the edits a little so it would look more smooth- Blanca
4. You can add to the resolution by showing all three characters having fun. This would help give us the idea that the values in the video were stronger-Jacob D and Morgan D
This post is from Jose, Taylor, And Kelsey
The positive comments that were most meaningful to us were from John and Sabrena. John told us that “We especially like the shot when the camera turned towards the sky because it was a good transition from leaving the beach” and that was helpful because we did know if that shot would be a good transition shot. In addition, Sabrena told us that “Your group has talent” , and that helped us see that our acting was good because we felt that it was “sketchy” because of the attempt on surfer dude accents.
The two best suggestions we got were from John and Jacob. John suggested that we “Use of dramatic music and happy music would help the rising action, the climax, and the resolution” . We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to make the resolution more clear by adding different music specific to the tone that needs to be set. Jacob suggested that we “Change the edits a little so it would look more smooth”. We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to do cleaner edits for the final draft.

Something that my group realized about planning before you begin filming is that you literally need to be thinking about everything. Every angle, every line, how much time you need to leave inbetween each line, everything. We didin't really fallow the rule of thirds now that I look back, it doesn't line up well. Some impressions that you can bring across with over tha shoulder shots are, you can make a certain character apear larger or smaller which brings what kind of person they are into the picture. The conversation seems pretty realistic, and we didn't really have any difficulties editing. I leaned that you have to think of everything ahead of time, before you do all of the filming so that every cut can work easily while editing.
